What Soap Should I Use on Ring Worm?
The fungi infection ringworm can usually be recognized by small skin abrasions and rash-like reactions on the top layers. The fungus that causes ringworm thrives when the skin is warm and moist. It is also contagious through skin on skin contact, which explains why locker rooms are one of the most common modern facilities people can catch ringworm.
However, easy to follow treatments, including some you can perform at home, can help treat current and prevent future ringworm.
Treatment of Ringworm
If you find yourself with ringworm, these are the most commonly used treatments:
- Clean infected clothes in hot water with fungicidal soap.
- Canesten Anti-fungal cream, Go Natural or other pharmacy recommended anti-fungal treatments.
- Washing with medicated, antibacterial or anti-fungal soap that contains tea tree oil
What to Look for in a Soap
As mentioned, one of the easiest ways to treat and prevent ringworm is with soap that is made specifically to fight fungus and bacterial infections. These soaps can usually be determined by their ingredients. One of which being tea tree oil. Unlike most ingredients in soap that usually sit on the top layer of skin, tea tree oil penetrates the top layer of skin to better fight the source of the infection.
