Since Intex recommends using chemicals in most of their pools to maintain safe, clear water, you will need to learn apply those chemicals. Pool chemicals are available from your pool dealer as well as local pool supply retailers. The chemical requirements of your Intex pool will vary with the conditions as well as your region. Intex provides some guidelines as to add the chemicals once you determine what chemicals to use, how much to use and when to apply them.
Instructions
1. Perform a chemical test two to three times a week using a test kit. Most pool manufacturers recommend aiming for a pH between 7.2 and 7.9. Follow the specific instructions provided with the test to determine complete the test. Most tests require you to add a certain number of drops of the pool water to a test strip. It will indicate the pH as well as the chlorine, alkalinity and acid content of the pool water.
2. Apply chemical treatment products based on the results of your pH test and the appearance of your water. Algae and water that turns black, blue, brown, milky or cloudy indicate that the water requires treatment. Consult with your pool dealer or pool supply store as to the quantity of chemicals to apply based on your pool's needs.
3. Dissolve granular or tablet chlorine chemicals in a bucket of water before adding to the pool to protect the Intex pool's vinyl liner.
4. Add different types of chemicals separately. Completely dissolve one chemical in the water before adding another chemical to the water.
