Make A Little Miss Muffet Halloween Costume

Include a fake spider in your Little Miss Muffet costume.

Most people have heard the nursery rhyme about Little Miss Muffet, who, while enjoying her curds and whey, was scared off by an uninvited spider. Bring this fairytale to life by creating a Little Miss Muffet Halloween costume. When putting together this outfit and accessories, be as girly as possible with lots of pink, ruffles and bows. Don't forget to include the guest-star of this costume, too, by incorporating a fake spider.

Instructions

1. Find a dress for the costume at a Halloween store, thrift shop or a clothing retailer. This outfit should be as girly as possible, made with pink, yellow or baby blue material. Look for one with lots of ruffles and round sleeve-caps. To get extra volume out of the skirt, where a tutu underneath to help it poof out.

2. Accessorize the outfit. Wear a pair of knee-high socks or full-length tights with ballet-slipper shoes. Tie a small apron around the front of the skirt or a sash around your waist. Place an oversized ribbon under your hair and tie it in a big bow on top, or wear a floppy bonnet.

3. Put on makeup to further extenuate the costume. Use a pink or red blush, or costume face paint, to create two round circles on either cheek. Apply colored eyeshadow over your lids and wear a pink lipstick or lip gloss. Don't be afraid to wear more makeup than you usually would. This is Halloween, so go all out to showcase Miss Muffet's girly side. Use eyeliner to dot freckles.

4. Carry a bowl of curds and whey. This can be made in any bowl, although a wooden dish with a wooden spoon would best fit the fairytale theme. Find one with a handle to make it easier to carry through the holiday. Fill the bowl with actual curds and whey -- which is cottage cheese -- or create a substitute with a serving of instant oatmeal.

5. Make a spider companion to complete your costume. Find a fake spider from a Halloween props store. Splurge on an arachnid at least the size of your hand so that it really shows up in your costume (and is large enough to actually frighten Miss Muffet away). Tie a piece of white yarn or clear fishing line around the spider. Secure the other end of the string around your wrist so you can wear the spider as an accessory all night.
