A doctorate degree exemplifies authority and command within a particular discipline.
Various companies and organizations recognize the significance in achievements made by students who pursue doctoral degrees, mainly because their expertise in a specialized area has the potential to advance a company's objectives and plans for future development. A number of these companies offer scholarships and fellowships that assist a student financially while focusing their natural talents and preparing them for concrete work within their organizations. Acceptance into these programs is selective. It is also important that the development of a potential doctoral candidate is in line with the overall mission of a company or organization with which they may later be employed.
American Association of University Women
The AAUW is an organization dedicated to ensuring that women have fair access to educational and employment opportunities. This organization offers grants and fellowships to women within a number of different disciplines, including education. Fellowships are generally scholarships and stipends designed to ensure that doctoral candidates invest most of their time to research and not in the workforce. Academic excellence, a spirit of philanthropy, and dedication are only a few aspects of AAUW's criteria for fellowships and grants. There are five different fellowships offered by AAUW with different criteria for dissertations, post-doctoral research, etc.
