Start A Ged Program

The GED is a step towards a better job.

Getting your GED will allow you to pursue more job opportunities. Most colleges require a GED or high school diploma before you can begin working towards a degree. Many churches and community colleges sponsor GED programs in the community. These programs work with you to prepare you to take the GED test. The program may take up to a year to complete.

Instructions

1. Contact your community college to see if they offer a GED program. They may have specific dates that you can enroll in the program. This program should provide resources for extra tutoring in difficult subjects.

2. Look on line to find a GED program that you can complete. This option may be more expensive than the one offered at your community college, but it does offer more flexibility in beginning and completing the classes. You may have a more difficult time getting one-on-one tutoring if you need it.

3. Ask your local church or check with other churches in the community to see if they offer a GED program. They offer these classes as a ministry and they are generally free. They also tend to advertise on the bulletin boards in libraries.

4. Choose the program that works best with your needs and schedule. It is important to commit to this program fully so that you can complete it as quickly as possible.

5. Fill out the enrollment forms for the class. You will need to pay tuition before your first class or set up a payment plan with the financial aid office if the program is not free.
