Finding a career to study for in college is a great way to bring about a promising job for the future. The field of nursing is one that's always in demand and a great choice for a rewarding career. A nurse anesthetist is one step above a registered nurse and requires extra classes and training to learn administer anesthesia to patients. Plenty of colleges have a nurse anesthetist program, but some are better than the rest.

1. Look up Rush University in Chicago, which has a College of Nursing. This college has been around since the 1880s. You'll have the option of a post-certificate master's and doctorate program here. Rush University is consistently in the top 5 percent, according to the "U.S. News & World Report."
2. Check out the Virginia Commonwealth University--Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. This program was ranked No. 1 by "U.S. News & World Report" in nurse anesthesia programs. Aside from the certificate program, there's also a distance-learning Ph.D. program in health related studies for nurse anesthetists.
3. Look into the University of PIttsburgh School of Nursing. Its School of Nursing is accredited and the Nurse Anesthesia program is also accredited, which means this school is well-respected. Founded in 1939, this is one of the oldest nursing programs, as well.
4. Look up the University of Michigan-Flint in the city of Flint. This is a small college with 15-student classes, and students who attend this college are happier with the college than the national average. This college is world-renowned and is a great place to obtain your certificate for nurse anesthetist.
5. Consider private religious-affiliated nursing programs. Our Lady of the Lake College in Louisiana is a Catholic university and predominately has majors in health professions. Texas Wesleyan University is United Methodist and ranked as one of the best colleges, according to "U.S. News & World Report."
