Apply And Get Into Augsburg College In Minneapolis Minnesota

Becoming an Auggie starts with the application process.

Augsburg College is a four-year, private Lutheran school in downtown Minneapolis. Ranked as one of the best regional universities in the Midwest, it offers over 50 major areas of study and seven graduate degrees.

Augsburg is the only urban campus of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and by far its most diverse. Auggies are dedicated to campus involvement, serving the community and fostering their spiritual beliefs. The application process is selective, but with some dedication and hard work, you too can become an Auggie.

Instructions

1. Fill out an application. Undergraduate applications can be completed online or downloaded from the school's website and mailed in. Because the school offers rolling admission, no deadline applies; however, it's wise to get your application in as early as possible. A $25 processing fee is charged for mailed applications; online application is free.

An official copy of your high school transcripts is required. If you are transferring, you must provide an official copy of your college transcripts as well. If you have completed less than one year of transferable college coursework you are required to submit ACT or SAT scores. Two letters of recommendation are also required, as is a personal essay detailing how you expect to enrich Augsburg College and how it will enrich you. Check the requirements for your anticipated major, because certain programs require additional application materials.

2. Bring good grades and test scores. Though more than half of applicants are admitted, nearly 75 percent of incoming freshmen are in the top half of their graduating class, and the average high school GPA for newly admitted students is 3.27.

Scoring well on the SAT or ACT is also important. The average SAT score of admitted students is 1010 and the average composite ACT score is 23. To improve your chances of being accepted, focus on your standardized test score, recommendations and essay.

3. Choose a graduate program. In addition to undergraduate degrees, Augsburg College offers six graduate degree programs as well as a doctor of nursing practice degree.

Though each program has its own admission requirements, some general guidelines pertain. Applicants to the graduate program must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and have an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0. Applicants with a lower GPA may be accepted on a conditional basis.
