Students can complete the master's degree via three years of part-time study. Students are required to attend a two one-week intensive session on campus during the summer semester. Master's students complete the courses as part of the certificate program, in addition to graduate-level courses.
UNC Gillings School of Public Health: Occupational Health Nursing Certificate
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) offers a graduate-level Occupational Health Nursing (OHN) certificate. Students are required to travel once to the campus, but the rest of the course is completed entirely online. The certificate consists of one graduate-level course and three graduate-level electives for a total of 11 credit hours. Courses include occupational health nursing, industrial toxicology, occupational safety and ergonomics, fundamentals of industrial hygiene, interdisciplinary approaches to occupational health and principles of epidemiology. Applicants must have a current Registered Nursing (RN) license, at least two years of OHN experience, a personal career statement and two letters of recommendation. Students can apply the certificate courses towards a UNC Master of Public Health in Occupational Health Nursing.
University of South Florida: Occupational Health Nursing
The University of South Florida`s Occupational Health Nursing Certificate is a 12-credit course that is completed via online delivery. Students must complete four graduate-level occupational health nursing courses to obtain the certificate. Applicants must have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 and a bachelor`s degree from an academic institution that is regionally accredited.
