Purchase offers four-year undergraduate degrees.
The State University of New York at Purchase, also known as SUNY-Purchase and Purchase College, admits new students each spring. Found in 1967, Purchase maintains a liberal arts curriculum with a particular emphasis on the visual and performing arts. Students wishing to apply to Purchase must follow strict admissions procedures in order to gain acceptance.
GPA requirements
Purchase suggests that all applicants should have at least a high school GPA of 3.0. However, given other evidence of high academic achievement or advanced artistic talent, students with lower GPAs may be admitted.
SAT scores
Purchase recommends that applicants have at least a 1100 combined score on the Math and Critical Reading sections. As with the GPA requirement, students with lower scores may be admitted in exceptional circumstances.
ACT score
Purchase accepts the ACT score in place of the SAT score but does not provide score targets for students.
High School Coursework
Purchase expects students to have completed four years of English, three years of Math, three years of Laboratory Science, three years of Social Studies and two years of a foreign language. The College gives special notice to high achievement in advanced or AP courses.
School of the Arts
Student applying to the School of the Arts will be required to submit additional materials based on their particular talents. High achievement in an artistic field can outweigh other admissions criteria in cases of exceptional talent.
