No need to fear the psychology test.
Employers often use psychology tests to filter out the application pool. These tests help evaluate potential employees for personality disorders or psychological disturbance. Governments use them to screen police, firemen, and government workers. However they are becoming increasingly popular with corporate America as well, since they help determine honesty and integrity. These tests can run from 50 to over 500 multiple choice questions, depending on the job.
Instructions
1. Read each question carefully and consider your answer. Don't rush and don't try to figure out if it's a trick question. Your first instinct is probably the right answer.
2. Tell the truth. There are no right or wrong answers on a psychology test. Some of the questions are cross referenced and may be reworded to see if your answers remain consistent.
3. Answer each question simply and directly. Don't over explain. Long rambling answers will not get you more points. A basic, common sense answer will score better. They want to know how you will handle situations that might come up in the job, how you'll get along with coworkers, and if you possess a good work ethic.
4. Know your rights. When taking a psychological test you have the right to be treated with respect and to have the test evaluated by a professional. You also have the right to know the purpose and use of the test, and to inquire about accommodations for disabilities or issues with the language of the test. Finally, you have the right to have the test results kept confidential in accordance with the law.
