The bachelor pad is back. Men's magazines and even The New York Times have declared the return of the man-space. But just because a space is masculine does not mean it should be careless. A bachelor pad should be a soothing, solid space that requires minimal upkeep but always looks neat.
Incorporate Sports
A bachelor pad does not need to have sports memorabilia on its walls, but athletic equipment can enhance an apartment. Rather than stuffing your closet with baseball mitts, bicycle tires and snowboards, find ways to store them in your surroundings. Mount a bracket on a wall to hang your bike. Use old snowboards for shelving. Prominently feature your prized mitt on the mantel.
Leather
The one essential ingredient in any bachelor pad is leather. Calmly masculine, leather can enhance a recliner, couch or even desktop. Leather conveys both class and casual comfort. Of course, even a single item of leather can dictate the room around it, so be sure of your overall aesthetic before choosing your leather item.
Modern Minimalism
Modern minimalism is the ultimate buzzword when it comes to interior decorating for men. Keep tables and furniture sleek and low to the ground, without too much padding or flare. Carpets should be muted, counters and shelf spaces uncluttered. "Less is more" should be your mantra when designing bachelor space.
