Write The Promotional Piece Of A Spelling Bee

Invite the school community to a spelling bee using catchy promotional materials.

Spelling bees are opportunities for students to refine their spelling skills while engaging in friendly competition with their peers. Teachers can create promotional materials for a spelling bee to attract students, parents, other teachers and administrators to the event.

Instructions

1. Determine a theme for your spelling bee promotional materials. Set your spelling bee apart from other promotional materials with a sports, movie or musical theme. Feature pictures of students dunking letters or words into a basketball hoop or pitching letters to one another for a sports theme or create a poster based on a popular movie but include information on the spelling bee in place of film actors and movie information as a movie theme.

2. Write the information of your spelling bee in keeping with your theme. If you chose a basketball theme say "Join us at our Spelling BEE-ball tournament." For movie themes write "Now Spelling: Ms. Morton's 3rd grade class in 'Bee Movie.'"

3. Include the level of competition for the spelling bee in your materials. For example, you may write "Competing in the final round for a class pizza party" in your advertisement.

4. Add the name of any special guests who may be hosting the spelling bee. Invite a local athlete, politician or other celebrity. Use the guest's photo if you have permission.

5. List the names of students who will be participating in the spelling bee or the classrooms they represent.

6. Add the date, time and location of the spelling bee to complete your materials.
