Calculate And Score Tests

Do the math to find the grade.

The most common way teachers and professors have scored and calculated test is with the "Standard Score" method. The Standard Score method uses a percentage of right answers compared to how many questions were given to calculate a grade. There are various ways to add to the basics of the Standard Score method, like including extra credit or giving more value to certain questions, but the concept is the same. You just need to do a little math.

Instructions

1. Correct the test to count the number of correct answers are on the test.

2. Enter the number of correct answers into your calculator and press divide.

3. Enter the total number of question there were on the test, and press the equal sign on the calculator. For example, if there were 25 questions and the test taker got 21 of the them correct, you would enter 21. Press the divide key, then enter 25 and then press the equal sign on your calculator. This will give you an answer of .84 or 84 percent of the answers correct.

4. Apply a letter grade to the percentage of right answers. This is up to the teacher or the professor to set guidelines. As an example, the score of 90 percent to 100 percent, the test taker would receive an "A"; 80 percent to 89 percent is a "B"; 70 percent to 79 percent would be a "C"; a score of 60 percent to 69 percent would earn a "D."
