Diploma and certificate programs are available to individuals interested in a career in the beauty industry. De Vere Academy


The Beauty and Massage course at The De Vere Academy is a full-time program offered over a period of 32 weeks. The program provides graduates with a beauty specialist diploma as well as a diploma in holistic massage. Students also receive certificates in tanning and eyelash extensions. No prior experience in the field is required, and classes are conducted in small groups to provide individualized instruction. Students are introduced to the fundamentals of skin care, including analyzing skin types, facial massage and product selection. Instruction is provided in makeup application in day, evening and special occasion application. Students learn to give manicures, pedicures and facial waxes. All student supplies--including makeup, manicure and pedicure supplies, and skin care products--are provided by the school.

Irish Academy of Beauty


The Irish Academy of Beauty offers both a beauty stylist certificate and beauty therapist diploma program. The beauty stylist certificate program is a full-time program that is eight weeks in length. No prior education or experience in the field is necessary. The program introduces students to the fundamentals of makeup application, basic hair styling, nail treatments and spray tanning. Each technique is demonstrated in class, and students apply what they have learned to fellow students in class. Students learn apply makeup to create natural daytime and dramatic looks; they also learn to perform nail fillings, shaping and nail art.


The beauty therapist program teaches everything included in the diploma. It also teaches advanced techniques in skin care, waxing, manicures, pedicures and makeup application. Students learn corrective makeup techniques, facial treatments and massage, body and facial waxing, paraffin wax treatments, and exfoliation. The program can be completed within 10 months on a part-time basis. Students are assessed throughout the program to follow progression through the course and write a theory examination at the completion of the program.

Makeup Falblicious Makeup Academy


The Makeup Falblicious Makeup Academy offers a certificate in makeup; it also offers a certificate in makeup with nail art & hair styling. Both programs provide theoretical foundations and practical experience in salons, as well as in television and theatrical makeup application. The part-time certificate in makeup program provides instruction in skin analysis and conditioning, corrective makeup, special occasion makeup, and cosmetic science.


The certificate in makeup with nail art and hair styling includes all of the topics learned in the previous certificate program and also includes training in client consultation, fashion makeup, and lighting effects on photographic makeup, nail art and hair styling. Each student completes a five-photo portfolio using real life models to prepare for employment opportunities.
