Mpa Policies

Public administration jobs work in courts, city hall and other government positions.


Public administrators, who earn an MPA, or a Master of Public Administration degree, work to create national and state policies for the benefit of the nation's citizens or a state's residents. This government degree focuses on the needs of the people and creates policies that benefit people in a variety of fields. Policies cover several areas of government and life, such as health care, employment and wages.


Health Policies


Health policies, written for the health care industry, cover various areas of health, including insurance, medication and health care facilities, and the basic rules of the health care industry. There are a variety of policies under health care that students taking an MPA are required to learn about, especially if their focus rests in the health care industry.


Homeland Security Policies


Homeland Security is an area of concern for many Americans, especially after several terrorist attacks and potential terrorist attacks on the country. These policies are seen in everyday life, such as taking off shoes at the airport or walking through metal detectors.


The policies of homeland security are made to improve the security of the nation and prevent attacks that can kill or injure bystanders.


Law and Public Policies








Policies that relate to the law and the general public fall under the law and public policies, the development of laws and rules the public follows for the benefit of everyone in the community. These include all of the laws from stopping at a red light to prevention and apprehension of those who commit murder, and the consequences of breaking these laws.


The policies set forth in this area of public administration relates to consequences, laws, public needs and benefits to the public through the legal system.








Wage Policies


Wages are an important part of any job. MPA policies that deal with wages focus on fair wages for workers in a variety of fields. The policies cover everything from minimum wage laws to overtime policies to benefits for workers like health insurance, life insurance and dental insurance.


Employment Policies


Employment policies regulate how employees are treated at work and include laws regarding employment. This includes everything from harassment policies to discrimination in the workplace policies. Employer and employee actions are regulated by employment policies both on the federal and state levels.
