Home School In South Carolina

Members of South Carolina Association of Independent Home Schools receive a discount on textbooks.

The South Carolina Department of Education requires students from age five to 17 attend 180 days of school annually in the subjects of reading, writing, mathematics, science, social studies, and from grade seven and beyond, composition and literature. Parents and guardians older than 18 with a high school diploma or GED may design a curriculum for board approval that gets documented daily and tested annually with statewide basic skills assessments. Joining a home school organization exempts students from state testing.
