Atlanta Technical College


Atlanta Technical College in Atlanta, Georgia was ranked as the best community college in the United States by Washington Monthly. Atlanta Technical College offers over 100 associate degrees, diplomas and technical certificates. Students must be at least 16 years old to apply. Program options include the Business, Media and Information Technology Division, offering degrees in areas such as accounting, computer programming, marketing management, and visual communications. The Health and Human Services Division offers degrees and certificates in fields such as barbering, dental assisting, medical assisting, paramedic technology and practical nursing. The Skilled Trades and Technical Division offers degrees in auto collision repair, aviation maintenance technology, carpentry, drafting and plumbing.

Cascadia Community College


Located in Bothell, Washington, Cascadia Community College ranked second on Washington Monthly's list. Cascadia offers associate degrees, transfer degrees and certificates. Associate of arts degrees include business, education, integrated studies, global studies and pre-nursing. Associate of science options include biological sciences, computer science, engineering, environmental technologies and sustainable practices, network technology and web application programming technology. Thirteen professional certifications are also available in areas such as computer applications, database development, energy management, and PC specialist. Cascadia offers small class sizes, a diversity and equity center, and more than 20 student clubs and organizations.

Southern University at Shreveport


Shreveport, Louisiana's Southern University at Shreveport ranked third on Washington Monthly's community college ratings. The school offers programs in the fields of allied health services, behavioral sciences, education, business studies, humanities, science and technology, and nursing. Choose from 8 associate of applied science degrees, 11 associate of science degrees, 13 professional certificate programs, and an associate in general studies degree. Students can gather at the Johnny L. Vance Student Union and participate in more than 30 student organizations. Students can also play basketball and golf as part of the Southern University at Shreveport's athletic program. The school offers several academic centers and satellite classrooms throughout the community.
