Grants are available for GED and college students.
The General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is an alternative to a traditional high school diploma. Many colleges and universities require matriculating students to have a GED or high school diploma to gain admission. Grants for GED and college-related activities are available to individuals who fulfill the specified requirements.
GED Partial Fee Waiver
The City College of San Francisco's GED Testing Center offers a test fee waiver for qualified test takers. The total fee is $75.00. The $46.50 fee waiver is available to City College of San Francisco students and people who are receiving public assistance such as unemployment benefits or food stamps. Instructors and counselors at the GED Testing Center have the ability to determine that someone is eligible for the waiver due to financial need even if that person is not on public assistance. The remaining $28.50 is paid via cash or money order at the time of registration.

Hinds Community College GED Scholarship
Hinds Community College in Mississippi offers scholarships to students who scored 577 or higher on the GED examination. The scholarship pays for the full tuition of a part-time student who is taking at least six hours, or half of the tuition of a full-time student. If the scholarship recipient maintains a 2.5 grade point average, the scholarship is renewed up to four semesters. Scholarship applicants must be at least 18 years old, first-time college students, and legal residents of Mississippi. The National Association of Community College Teacher Education Programs Scholarship Program
The National Association of Community College Teacher Education Programs offers a national scholarship for community college students who are studying to be teachers at NACCTEP member colleges. The scholarships total $1000 each. Applications are available online at http://www.nacctep.org. Applicants must be United States citizens with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0. Applicants must also have at least 24 completed semester credits by the end of spring semester in the application year. The following academic year, successful applicants maintain at least six semester credits at the member school. The scholarship requires a typewritten essay (maximum of three pages) that explains the applicant's career plans and goals.
