Types Of Paralegal Jobs

As corporations and law firms are getting rid of highly paid attorneys, the demand for paralegals is growing. Requirements for an entry-level job as a paralegal are usually an associate degree or certification in paralegal studies.

Corporate

Corporate paralegals will often assist attorneys with drafting contracts, agreements or other legal documents. They also help keep attorneys informed about recent regulations affecting the client's business.

Probate

Probate paralegals interview clients, assist in drafting of wills or perform other duties related to estate planning. They can sometimes also work with probate courts.

Litigation

The main duty of a litigation paralegal is to conduct research on client cases or laws affecting cases. Litigation paralegals can also analyze evidence to be used at trial, prepare reports or maintain files.

Real Estate

Real estate paralegals assist attorneys in drafting and preparation of leases, deeds or other real estate contracts, and deal directly with the legal aspects of real estate sales and financing.

Employment

An employment paralegal may be employed by a company, union or other labor organization. Typical job duties include assisting with creation and implementation of union or labor contracts or dealing with complaints from employees or union members.
