Houston School of Art and Design
Since 1994, the Houston School of Art and Design has been offering a variety of different adult art classes in drawing, painting, airbrush and photography. The adult programs generally include six classes and combine hands-on experience with professional instruction. The school also offers a special kids program for ages 6-12, where young artists will learn about different skills and mediums. All of the programs are offered at various times throughout the week and weekend.

University of Houston School of Art
The School of Art at the University of Houston offers Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees in painting, photography and digital media, sculpture and graphic communications. The school also offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in art history and art. According to the University of Houston website, the School of Art comprises 26 permanent faculty members, plus adjunct, visiting and clinical faculty members. All of the instructors are professional artists, designers or art historians. The school also holds various lectures and exhibitions throughout the academic year for students.

Glassell School of Art
Founded in 1979, the Glassell School of Art is located at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston. It offers a variety of art classes and workshops for children and adults. According to the school's website, students can choose from nearly 100 classes and workshops in a variety of mediums, including painting, drawing, jewelry-making, photography and art history. For more in-depth study, the school also offers a certificate of achievement program in addition to a core artist-in-resident program.
