College-level students wishing to study abroad have many options. Institutes around the world offer foreign exchange programs, each with its own qualifications, areas of study and affiliated university. Foreign exchange programs also vary in length of time and language.
Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE)
The Council on International Educational Exchange, established in 1947, aims to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to live in a globally interdependent and culturally diverse world. The center's student exchange programs for college students are extensive, with 115 programs and choices of locations in 41 countries in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. Students can choose from many programs, including art, business, communications, environmental studies, public health and science. Examples of existing programs include liberal arts in Buenos Aires, Argentina; sustainability and the environment in Perth, Australia; business, communications and culture in Brussels, Belgium; Chinese studies in Beijing, China; Central European studies in Prague, Czech Republic; classical studies in Naples, Italy; language and culture in Amman, Jordan; development and globalization in Khon Kaen, Thailand; as well as numerous other programs around the world. CIEE counselors and staff provide guidance in the country in which you choose to stay.

American Institute for Foreign Study
The American Institute for Foreign Study was founded in 1964 with the aim of promoting understanding and international education through cultural exchange. The institute offers numerous foreign exchange programs in locations such as Asia, Australia, Europe, South Africa, and North and South America, along with multi-country traveling programs in western Europe. The institute works in conjunction with universities in specific cities to match students with their preferred program. The program fee includes tuition, housing, meal plans, airfare if selected, and excursions and cultural activities. Program courses include arts, business, economics, environmental science, health services, humanities, politics and elective courses in English. Examples of some programs are Paris, France, at the University of Paris; Stellenbosch, South Africa, at Stellenbosch University; London, England, at the American International University; and Beijing, China, at the Beijing Language and Culture University.
