Psychological Interview Questions

Probing for deeper answers with a psychological interview.

Psychological questions can help an interviewer get honest answers from a job applicant that might not come through traditional interview methods. However, an interviewer must be careful when using psychological interview questions because it is not an exact science. A number of standard questions are used during a psychological interview.

Instructions

1. Ask your applicant where he sees himself in 10 years to paint a picture of the candidate's work ethic, true desires and drive.

2. Ask the applicant how she would define success to find out what is important to her.

3. Ask what qualities he thinks you should look for in the employee for the open position to find out if he has a good understanding of the position and what it would take to perform well in it.

4. Ask what color best describes her to get an indication of the applicant's ability to think quickly and come up with a creative answer.
