Scholarships For Postgraduate Studies In The United Kingdom

After having completed an undergraduate degree at a U.S. college or university, many students wish to broaden their horizons by undertaking postgraduate studies at a foreign institution. Travel abroad can be quite expensive, however, and so can the tuition for postgraduate studies. Fortunately, there are a number of full-tuition scholarships available for study in the United Kingdom that will pay for both travel costs and schooling.

George J. Mitchell Scholarships

The George J. Mitchell Scholarship is awarded to up to twelve U.S. postgraduate students every year. This scholarship provides for one full year of postgraduate studies at an institution of higher learning in Ireland or Northern Ireland. Recipients are awarded full tuition, housing and stipends to cover both travel and living expenses. In order to be eligible, applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 30. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement, leadership qualities and commitment to public service. The annual deadline for application is October 5. Prospective applicants should visit the U.S.-Ireland Alliance website for full scholarship details.
