Masters Programs In Clinical Psychology

A graduate program in clinical psychology will be very reading and research intensive.


Clinical psychology is the study of the effect of distress on well-being and personal development. An individual studying clinical psychology at the advanced level would gain an understanding of relieving and preventing stress and distress as well as dysfunction. The same individual would learn to promote personal development and well-being through understating psychology. There are master's programs available in clinical psychology to provide this sort of education.


University of California at Los Angeles


Within the graduate school of psychology at the University of California Los Angeles, there is a clinical psychology program. This program is research-heavy and intense, so students of high intellectual backgrounds are encouraged to apply to the program. Required courses include research methods classes, considered among the faculty to be one of the most important aspects of the core program. All requirements for the graduate program in Clinical Psychology at the University of California Los Angeles must be completed within six years.

University of Washington


There is an average of 130 students enrolled in the graduate school in the department of psychology at the University of Washington. Within this school, many different disciplines are offered as courses of study, including clinical psychology. As in many graduate programs in the department of psychology, while a master's degree is offered, it is rare that students stop there: they usually go on to obtain a Ph.D. in clinical psychology. University of Wisconsin-Madison


The Department of Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as been teaching students and researching for over 100 years. While the university offers many different areas of concentration including biology of brain and behavior, cognitive neuroscience, perception, social and personality and developmental, the clinical psychology program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is highly regarded as one of the top five graduate programs in the country, consistently. Like the University of Washington clinical psychology program, the graduate program at Wisconsin-Madison is also mentor-based. Applicants are admitted into the graduate program depending on how closely their interests and qualifications match the current faculty interests and qualifications, and areas of specialty. According to the department at the university, a student who is not deeply committed to research will not be a good match for this graduate program.
