A medical biller is a professional that processes insurance claims, then sends them to the insurance company. They make sure that your insurance company pays your doctor. Medical billers go through intensive training that covers topics from taking a patient's history, to bookkeeping, to working with group insurances. Training time varies; many schools offer a one-year certificate and a two-year associate degree.
Instructions
1. Go to the Manhattan Institute website (see Resources below). Register for their medical billing training by clicking on their registration link. Call them at 1-212-564-1234 if you want to register with them by phone. Go to the Manhattan Institute's address--255 Fifth Avenue--if you want to register in person.
2. Go to the Mandl School Allied Health's website (see Resources below). Click on their "Get Started" hyperlink to get to their information request page. Fill in the boxes with your name and contact information, and then select "Medical Billing and Coding" from their "Degree Programs" drop-down menu. Type your questions in the box, click submit and wait for their administrative department to call you. Travel to their address to speed this up--Mandl School; The College of Allied Health; 254 West 54th Street. Call them at 1-212-247-3434, to get registration specifics.
3. Pull the Berkeley College website up and click on their link for medical billing and coding. Select "New York City, Lower Manhattan, NY" as your desired campus. Click the "Health Service Administration" option for billing and coding. Fill all the boxes with your contact information; then click "Submit." Wait for someone in admissions to contact you; then ask the caller for address information.
4. Go to the Sanford-Brown Institute, New York Campus at the following address: 120 E. 16th Sreet, 2nd Floor.. Access their website and select "More Information." Fill the form out, submit it and you will receive a call from someone at their admissions office.
5. Attend the Allen School online program--which is based in New York City--if you don't have time to attend a regular school. Fill their "Request More Information" box and click "Submit." Use this option if you want to attend medical belling training online.
