Yale Law School
Located in New Haven, Connecticut, Yale Law School is ranked as the number one U.S. aw school by the U.S. News & World Report Rankings. Founded in the early 19th century, Yale Law School now offers more than 200 courses and features an average class size under 25 students, with the student-to-faculty ratio at 6.8:1. Four major degrees are awarded by Yale Law School and joint-degree programs are available. The J.D. program is three years long, providing students with both classroom and outside instruction. The LL.M program is typically only open to students wishing to pursue careers in teaching law and has no set course of study. The M.S.L. program is designed for students wishing to obtain a familiarity with the law in relation to another disciplines but not wishing to become lawyers. The J.S.D. program is only open to graduates of the LL.M. program.

Harvard Law School
Harvard Law School is ranked as the number two law school in the United States by the U.S. News & World Report and is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Founded in 1817, Harvard Law School is the oldest continuously operating law school in the country. It offers three basic law degrees: the J.D., the LL.M. and the S.J.D. Joint degree programs are also available. Each application for the J.D. program at Harvard Law School is considered based on transcripts, extracurricular and community activities, work experience, personal background, letters of recommendation, personal statement, LSAT score(s) and LSAT writing sample. The LL.M. program is a one-year program for candidates wishing to pursue careers in a variety of legal fields, such as lawyers, government officials and doctoral students. The S.J.D. program is designed for those who wish to pursue a lifelong career in the study and research of law.

Stanford Law School
Ranked number three in the United States by the U.S. News & World Report, Stanford Law School is located in Stanford, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area. The school was formed in 1893 and offers four major degrees: the J.D., LL.M., J.S.D., and M.L.S. The J.D. program is an interdisciplinary and intensive program. The LL.M. program is limited to students with a primary law degree from another country and is course-based. The J.S.D. program can only be applied for after the completion of Stanford's SPILS program and is focused on careers in research, teaching and public policy. The M.L.S. program is designed for students with no prior legal experience. Joint-degree programs are also available.
