Take The Gmat Examination

Study up for your GMAT exam to impress admissions departments.


Those planning to attend business school will likely be faced with the prospect of taking the GMAT, or Graduate Management Admissions Test. This exam tests an individual's basic verbal and mathematical skills to determine readiness for advanced courses of study. While this test is not universally required, many schools use it as an indicator of an applicant's basic understanding and readiness for the graduate program. Commonly this test, along with your undergraduate transcript, determines whether or not you will be accepted into the graduate management program you select.


Instructions


1. Find a GMAT testing center near your. Most of these testing centers are privately operated and contract with the company that maintains the GMAT exam to offer this test. These testing centers all have their own specific hours of operation and registration procedure. To locate a testing center near you and complete your registration, visit the "Find a GMAT Testing Center" link listed in the Resources section.


2. Pay your GMAT testing fee. The specific payment options vary from center to center, but most accept only credit card payments. If you received financial aid from the college at which you completed your undergraduate studies, you may be eligible to have this fee waved. Visit the "GMAT Fee Waiver Application" link located in the Resources section to see if you qualify for this money-saving offer.


3. Complete the accommodations request form if necessary. If you are recognized as having a disability, you may be eligible for test-taking accommodations including extended time. To receive these accommodations, you must complete the "GMAT Accommodations Request." A link to this form is located in the Resources section.








4. Prepare for your GMAT. Visit your local library or book store to gather GMAT review materials. Review this material independently or with a studying partner to familiarize yourself with the type of questions that will be on this exam.








5. Take your GMAT, which is a computer-administered test. On testing day, you will complete a simple registration and then take your exam on the testing center computer system.
