Educational leadership grants help promote the success of black men.
Educational leadership grants for black men are available through privately funded philanthropic organizations as well as diversity programs at colleges and universities nationwide. The grants are designed to increase the visibility of black males in traditionally underrepresented career paths and academic fields. In addition to getting financial support, grant recipients will receive mentorship and leadership training. Educational leadership candidates should apply for scholarships and grants that are cross-disciplinary and have no institutional restrictions.
The Jackie Robinson Foundation
The Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to improving the educational outcomes of African American and other underserved populations nationwide. The foundation offers four-year scholarships to qualified high school graduates as well as professional mentoring, internships and leadership training. In addition to providing professional development skills, JRF also offers its grant recipients opportunities to participate in community service programs and international travel. JRF has given over $4 million in scholarship funds and supports various educational programs. The JRF scholarship is designed to provide financial assistance to outstanding high school graduates who wish to attend an accredited baccalaureate program. In addition to receiving financial support, scholars will participate in leadership development workshops.

Louisiana State University
Louisiana State University's Black Male Leadership Initiative (BMLI) provides mentoring and academic training to promising candidates. The program connects student with campus-wide support services and mentorship opportunities. Students will also receive tutoring and personal development workshops. The BMLI is coordinated through the Office of Equity, Diversity and Community Outreach at Louisiana State University. BMLI grant recipients are eligible to enroll across disciplinary fields; prior grant recipients are graduates from chemical engineering, education, finance and arts and sciences.

United Negro College Fund
The United Negro College Fund (UNCF) provides college grants to over 60,000 students annually through scholarships, fellowships and capacity building programs, according to the organization's website. UNCF administers a wide array of programs; prospective applicants should review the eligibility criteria for each program. Scholarships for black men in educational leadership are offered through grants such as the Cynthia Denise Robinson Horton scholarship fund, Douglas Palmer and the Fort Worth Independent School District Programs.

Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
The Gates Millennium Scholars provides full scholarships to promising students who wish to pursue their college careers at any institution; applicants can major in any academic discipline. Scholarship recipients will also receive personal and professional development training throughout the course of their scholarship. Eligible candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents with a high school grade point average of 3.3.
