Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is a national service organization that strives to find ways to support their community, while focusing on building the academic achievement of its collegiate members. Many collegiate women want to become sorority members so that they can make new friends, grow academically and build their resume through service. However, not just anyone can become a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. There are some specific requirements for women who are thinking about becoming members.
Instructions
1. Attend a college, university or graduate school that has an active Alpha Kappa Alpha chapter. You can research different colleges that are home to this sorority by using the tool provided on the Alpha Kappa Alpha website. It is important to note that you must be a full-time student in order to join the sorority.
2. Complete one full semester at the college or institution you attend. You must achieve a cumulative grade point average of at least a C+ before you will be eligible to join the sorority. Make sure that you take school seriously and earn the best grades you can in order to ensure that you will be eligible.
3. Participate in "rush" events for Alpha Kappa Alpha. Rush events will vary from school to school so you should learn about your individual school's rush requirements. A rush is when prospective sorority members get to know the women already in the sorority and the sorority members get to know the prospective sisters.
4. Make a good first impression during rush. Make sure you dress for success. Be confident in yourself and show the sorority women what you would bring to the sorority. Think of rush as a type of job interview. The sorority women wish to impress you to become a part of their team and you want to prove to them that you are an excellent candidate.
