A nursing career in Indiana starts with application to a nursing program.
Many universities and colleges throughout the state of Indiana offer programs in nursing, whether they are bachelor's degrees or higher. Every school has a certain set of requirements for those applying to nursing programs. The highest ranking nursing programs naturally have the most stringent requirements, but even those requirements can be met with high grades and solid essays.

Ball State
At Ball State University, prospective nursing program entrants must first take general education courses. Then they are given the choice of five different degree options. To enter into the "Degree in 3" program, applicants submit a letter of request to the School of Nursing within the first 10 days of their second semester at Ball State. If their request is approved, the student enters a two-year nursing program. General applicants submit a letter of request as well, but they do so in their second semester of sophomore year and then take two years of nursing courses. Prospective Partners in Nursing Education gain approval from the separate Department of Military Science before entering the program. Students with a bachelor's degree from another school submit their transcripts from that school and enter into a 19-month program. Lastly, licensed practical nurses take a special bachelor of science program designated for those who already have training on which to build.
