The admission essay to college is the first opportunity to personalize the application. Putting the right "voice" on the essay and making it more interesting than rival essays can greatly improve the chances of the essay being picked for interviews. When writing the introduction to the admission essay it is important to grab the reviewer's attention by being both expressive and informative.


Instructions


1. Write down the thesis statement of the admission essay, this will be used as the last sentence of the introduction. Start with an attention-grabbing sentence that gives a feel for what the reader is in store for, without going on for too long. Keep the sentences in the introduction concise and expressive.


2. Use "I" statements often in the body of the introduction. Explain to the reader that the essay is filled with personal anecdotes that show why admission is deserved. Do not summarize the essay, however, or the reviewer is likely to skip over the rest.


3. Finish the introduction with the thesis statement of what will be gained from reading the rest of the essay. Read the entire introduction to ensure it flows and stays interesting to readers.
