An LPN is a Licensed Practical Nurse. In order to become an LPN you must complete post secondary academic training. Training is designed to help you master the skills LPN's must use on the job. An LPN degree can be earned in college classes in a physical setting. An LPN degree can also be earned largely online. Pushing hard to earn an LPN degree can lead to immediately full time employment in the field of nursing.
Instructions
1. Start by choosing a school of nursing. If you want to earn your degree quickly you will need to find a degree granting institution that will let you take at least twelve credits each and every semester. You want to take three to five classes each term to earn your online LPN degree as fast as possible.
2. Consider taking tests to avoid completing certain classes. If you have a background in chemistry or biology you may be able to take tests illustrating your field of knowledge rather than taking actual classes. Often tests can be taken in advance for a minimal fee. Passing such tests can help you get your online LPN degree faster.
3. Attend full time. In order to get an LPN degree as quickly as possible you should attend school full time. Full time attendance will enable you to concentrate on your studies and help you master the material being taught as quickly as possible. Ideally you want to attend classes at least three to four hours a day even online. You should also count on homework that lasts an hour or two each day.
4. Think about taking outside classes. As part of your online LPN training you may be required to take addition classes in specific subjects such as writing or political science. If you are unable to get access to classes online consider taking them in brick and mortar institution. Many online LPN programs will work with you to help you meet such requirements.
