Scholarships For Young Black Women

Young black women who need assistance with meeting the costs of higher education can apply for scholarships, which are offered by a number of organizations including the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) . The scholarships are paid directly to the student's school and can be used to cover any educational-related expenses.


AFSCME/UNCF/Harvard University LWP Union Scholars Program








Young black women who are majoring in certain fields of study can apply for assistance from the AFSCME/UNCF/Harvard University LWP Union Scholars Program. The program provides up to $5,000 to students who are enrolled in a four-year college. Acceptable majors include American Studies, Political Science and Women's Studies. Recipients of the award will be expected to work on a union-organizing campaign. Recipients will perform certain duties including reaching out to union members and helping to develop materials.


ALDI/UNCF Corporate Scholars Program








The ALDI/UNCF Corporate Scholars program awards up to $5,000 to selected applicants who are attending a four-year college. Young black women who are majoring in certain fields of study are eligible to apply. Accounting, Management Information Systems and Organizational Development are among the acceptable majors. Students must meet and maintain a 3.0 GPA to qualify. Recipients will participate in an internship at a ALDI location. Students must be able to demonstrate a financial need for the scholarship.


CDM/UNCF Scholars Program


The CDM/UNCF Scholars Program provides young black women with up to $6,000 in scholarship funds. Qualifying students must meet or exceed a 3.0 GPA and major in certain fields of study. Qualifying majors include Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Geography, and Geoenvironmental Hydrology. Students can attend any two-year or four-year college or university within the United States. Selected students will also receive a paid internship and housing reimbursement. The internship takes place at several locations including Dallas and Chicago.


Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Scholarship


Young black women who are attending a four-year college can apply for assistance through the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Scholarship. The program provides up to $2,000 to select students who meet or exceed the 2.75 GPA requirement. Students must be able to demonstrate an unmet financial need that can be verified by the college's Financial Aid Director. Applicants for the scholarship must be from Tarrant County, Texas.
