College Scholarships For Elementary Students

It's never too soon to provide your child with college money.

Some parents start funding for their child's college education when he is born. If you find it hard to put even a little money aside, you can start looking for scholarship programs. There are scholarship programs for elementary students that fund money for college, school activities or summer camps. There are eligibility requirements to follow, and these organizations often award scholarships based on a child's essay, academic excellence and community awareness.

Harvard-Kent Leadership Scholarship Awards

This scholarship is for elementary students who go to Harvard-Kent Elementary school. The $1,000 scholarships help parents provide funding for their children's college education. The Harvard-Kent Leadership and Scholarship Partnership works closely with the school on providing these scholarships to children. Those in grades three, four and five are eligible for the scholarship. The scholarship award bases itself on the student's academic excellence, including on the mathematics and English state examinations.

San Juan Elementary School

This elementary school also provides funds for elementary students in grades kindergarten through sixth grade. They receive awards of $500 to help start funding for their college education. The school created this program to help elementary school students to think about their futures, according to Sacramento County Superintendent of Schools, David W. Gordon. This program is a shared partnership between ScholarShare and the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE). Students in grades kindergarten through sixth grade must submit both a poster and an essay that talks about what they want to be when they grow up.
