Choose An Equine College

Equine colleges can be found around the country and include many different equine related degrees. Follow these steps to help pick the right equine college for you.

Instructions

1. Know what your areas of interests are and what skills you have. Being good in math can be rolled into a profession with horses, even if it doesn't seem obvious.

2. Decide what area of study you want to pursue before choosing a college. Some colleges offer stronger programs for different subjects. Pick an equine college with a good reputation for that specific program.

3. Determine what type of degree is needed for your career plans. An associate's, bachelor's or advanced degree is available at most equine colleges. A PhD may be what interests you. Find out which equine college offers the exact degree you want.

4. Narrow the list down to equine colleges that offer the degree you want, a location you are comfortable with and a tuition you can afford. Visit these schools in person if possible. Seeing the school in person can help you decide where you fit in best.

5. Talk to current and former students, professors and faculty from the equine college you select. Ask about classes, hands-on learning and how the college helped in obtaining jobs or more information for graduates.

6. Learn about financial aid and scholarships offered at the equine colleges you are researching. You may be able to pre-qualify or at least see what types of aid are available to you if you choose a certain college.

7. Follow admission requirements after you pick an equine college to attend.
