Find New Clothing Styles For Spring

Attend fashion shows featuring established and new designers.

Fashion designer Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel once said, "Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening." Not everyone pays attention to what the world deems "fashionable," but if you are among those who enjoy following or setting trends, you can learn all you want about fashion for each year's new collections --- through books, magazines, online or at fashion shows. Paris, New York, London and Milan spring fashion styles will get you started.

Instructions

1. Visit your nearest library to check out any fashion books and magazines they have on hand. Or get your own subscriptions to Vogue, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Esquire, Elle, or Marie Claire. Try Flaunt, V, and AnOther, too. These will have information on the latest styles, and many will list shows and trends for the new spring lines.

2. Check out all the information you can find about "Fashion Week." This is held twice a year. Big productions that take place in the fall bring out top designers and new styles for the following spring. The most important cities for fashion week events are Paris and New York, London and Milan. But you can check out the shows in Tokyo, Buenos Aires, and Toronto. Many programs are televised, or you can find videos on various websites online.

3. Drop in at your local high-end department store and talk to the manager in the department you'll be shopping for. Whether you want to know about spring clothing styles for men, women or children, they'll be able to guide you to whatever you seek. And they can advise you on other places to explore.

4. Attend a fashion show. If you have the resources, travel to one of the major cities during or around Fashion Week. Go to showings for designers from Burberry, Chloe, Dolce & Gabbana and Dior. Alternatively, just get to your nearest big city for a fashion showing any time of the year. You can network, talk about trends, and learn the latest news about the fashion industry.

5. Check resources online for your favorite designers and brands. Sites like Vogue and Sisley will feature their various collections to give you good ideas. Also, pull out the fashion, art or shopping section of a Sunday newspaper or look them up online. You can find what's selling, what folks are wearing, and follow stories like the big red carpet or gala events.
