Going to school no longer means you need to leave the comfort of your own home. Many universities and colleges offer distance learning courses as options for students who would rather participate in modern education without ever stepping onto campus. The three state universities in Arizona, including Arizona State University, have formed a network called Arizona Universities Network (AZUN) that offers distance learning courses with the same quality as traditional on-campus classes in several academic programs, and at the same price.

Arizona State University (ASU) in Tempe offers more than 300 degree programs in 14 colleges and schools. More than 58,000 undergraduate, graduate and professional students are enrolled at ASU, and the university calls itself an institution of international scope that is committed to excellent teaching, research and public service. ASU in Tempe is the largest campus in the United States when enrollments are compared on a single campus, and it has two other campuses in Mesa and Phoenix. About 27 percent of the student body are graduate students. ASU is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
Apply
If you are already a student at ASU, you don't have to register separately to take distance learning courses. First, check what classes you can take through the online network, then consult with your academic adviser to fit the classes into your academic program. After that, just create yourself a online account for the network, so you can shop and secure the online classes you want.
If you are not a student at ASU yet, you need first to choose an academic program before you can register for classes. You then need to apply to become a ASU student like you would apply to any university. Fill out all the necessary application forms and attach all needed documents. Once you have been accepted to ASU, you need to consult with your academic adviser either via phone or email, complete an online Request to Enroll form, secure your student ID, email account and books and pay your tuition before you can attend your distance learning classes.

ASU offers the following undergraduate degrees as part of its distance leaning network: BAS in Operations Management Technology, BA in Film and Media Studies, BS in Technical Communication, BS in Nursing, BA in Political Science, BA in Sociology, BS in Family and Human Development, BS in Justice Studies, BS in Legal Studies and BAS in Internet and Web Development Concentration.
Courses Offered
You can choose to either complete your entire academic program online or just parts of it. All courses needed to fulfill the requirements of the academic programs listed previously are offered as distance learning courses at ASU. In addition, you can also take individual distance learning courses to add to your courses on campus. You can choose from more than 600 courses per semester, varying from freshman introduction English courses to senior capstone courses.
Tuition and Fees
As a distance learning student, you will pay the same tuition that residential students pay for their classes on campus. In addition, you are responsible for the same program and class fees that residential students are. You can, however, also apply for the same financial aid, scholarships and payment installment plans with the rest of the student body.
