Students from
Texas schools qualify for state scholarships.
The state of Texas has several organizations interested in helping residents achieve educational goals. These organizations make grants and scholarships available to Texas students for several types of degree programs. Texas nursing scholarships provide funds for Texas men and women to become nurses. Other Texas scholarship funds grant awards to students from specific regions of the state.
College for All Texans
College for All Texans provides assistance and funding for Texas students attending colleges, universities, junior colleges and technical schools within the state through the Texas Educational Opportunity Grant Program. The fund also offers specialized Texas nursing scholarships. Scholarship funds go to Texas residents with financial need. Funds are only available through colleges within the state. Students are eligible to receive up to $2,500 for college expenses, and applications can be made through financial aid officers at state schools.
Hope Pierce Tartt Scholarship
The Hope Pierce Tartt Scholarship is a regional fund available to students from five counties in the east region of Texas. Recipients must be United States citizens and Texas residents for at least two years. The scholarship funds go to selected colleges in Texas and Louisiana that do not receive funding from tax money. Hope Pierce Tartt Texas scholarship funds award grants up to $5,000 a year through the financial aid offices of chosen colleges.
Houston IDS Council of PTAs
The Houston Independent School District Council of Parent Teacher Associations is a nonprofit organization representing local Texas PTAs. The organization has limited scholarship funds for deserving students from represented schools. Four annual scholarships go to graduating high school seniors who attended one of the member schools. One student from each of the four represented regions receives a scholarship award. The scholarship funds go to the student's chosen college before each fall semester.
The Lubbock Area Foundation
The Lubbock Area Foundations provides Texas scholarship funds for South Plains residents. The foundation administers awards from several area funds. Texas students from many Lubbock area schools are eligible for the scholarships. The foundation also administers Texas nursing scholarships. Scholarship funds go directly to chosen colleges or schools to pay for tuition and books exclusively. The foundation also awards grants to community schools and teachers to purchase educational materials that school budgets cannot afford.
