Get A Phd Online

Earning a PhD online can be challenging, but it is much more convenient than having to commute to classes several times a week. With the help of the Internet, you can communicate with your instructor via webcam, chat or email any time of day or night. Plus, you can find almost any kind of degree online that may not be available if you live in a small town without a diverse educational system. The advantages to completing a PhD online are numerous, but you have to be dedicated and motivated enough to study and complete your work without an instructor's help sometimes.

Instructions

Earning Your Degree

1. Read about the school's history and whether or not they also have an actual campus. Look at reviews from other students to determine if the educational quality is high enough. Also, check to see if they are accredited, which may be very important when you are looking for a job. A school's reputation holds a lot of weight with future employers.

2. See if there is a requirement to visit the campus, if there is a physical campus. Some online PhD programs require the students to visit the campus a few times to take tests or to write essays, so be sure that you are willing to travel and take days off work.

3. Call the school and speak with an adviser if you have any questions. If the school has a campus, go and speak to some of your instructors about the program. If there is no campus, email the instructors to get an idea of the level of communication that will be involved.

4. Complete the application process and apply for federal aid if you need it. There are several scholarships available for PhD candidates if you do some research online for them (see References 3).

5. Pay tuition and begin your online classes. Some classes require webinar attendance or chatroom attendance, so you need to be organized and prepared. Participate in forum and chat discussions with your instructors and classmates to enrich your educational experience and to get good recommendations from your instructors.
