Government Grants For College In Utah

Several government grants offer college funds in Utah.

Obtaining a college degree can help advance your career. However, as the price of higher education continues to increase, paying for that degree can seem difficult. Luckily, the government offers grant opportunities for college and related expenses in the state of Utah. Each grant follows a specific set of guidelines and requirements, so be sure to research each opportunity before you apply.

Utah Centennial Opportunity Program for Education

The Utah System of Higher Education offers the Utah Centennial Opportunity Program for Education, or UCOPE, grant. Funded through the state government, UCOPE grants provide financial assistance to Utah residents who are enrolled in a Utah higher education institution. Participating schools include University of Utah, Utah State Univesity, Weber State University, Southern Utah University, Snow College, Dixie State College of Utah, College of Eastern Utah, Utah Valley University, Salt Lake Community College, Utah College of Applied Technology, Brigham Young University, Westminster College and LDS Business College. Grants range from $300 to $5,000 per academic year. To qualify, students must be enrolled at least half-time in a degree-, certificate- or diploma-granting program and demonstrate financial need as defined by the state. Students apply for the UCOPE grant through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, form, offered through the federal government's FAFSA website.
