Several government grants offer college funds in Utah.
Obtaining a college degree can help advance your career. However, as the price of higher education continues to increase, paying for that degree can seem difficult. Luckily, the government offers grant opportunities for college and related expenses in the state of Utah. Each grant follows a specific set of guidelines and requirements, so be sure to research each opportunity before you apply.
Utah Centennial Opportunity Program for Education
The Utah System of Higher Education offers the Utah Centennial Opportunity Program for Education, or UCOPE, grant. Funded through the state government, UCOPE grants provide financial assistance to Utah residents who are enrolled in a Utah higher education institution. Participating schools include University of Utah, Utah State Univesity, Weber State University, Southern Utah University, Snow College, Dixie State College of Utah, College of Eastern Utah, Utah Valley University, Salt Lake Community College, Utah College of Applied Technology, Brigham Young University, Westminster College and LDS Business College. Grants range from $300 to $5,000 per academic year. To qualify, students must be enrolled at least half-time in a degree-, certificate- or diploma-granting program and demonstrate financial need as defined by the state. Students apply for the UCOPE grant through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, form, offered through the federal government's FAFSA website.

Utah Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership Program
The Utah Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership Program offers grant funding to full-time, undergraduate students enrolled in participating Utah colleges and universities. Students must be residents of the state of Utah to qualify. Grants range up to $2,500 per academic year. Students apply through the FAFSA program. To qualify, students must demonstrate financial need. A limited amount of Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership funds are available each year, so apply early for a better chance of receiving a grant.

Fine Arts Fee Grant
The University of Utah's College of Fine Arts offers a Fine Arts Fee Grant program. Grants are funded through the University, a member of the Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority. Grants range up to $6,000 and must support non-credit activities that promote student learning or bring arts events to the student community. Grant funds can be used for travel, food and lodging for visiting artists, rental of performance or exhibit space, and advertising costs. In order to apply, student art groups must be registered with the University of Utah's Associated Students' organization.
