California Online Rn Bridge Programs

Registered nurses can earn their BSN through bridge programs.

Entry-level registered nurses (RNs) do not have to hold a Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN). They can have an associate degree in nursing or a diploma in nursing. However, the Bachelor of Science in nursing allows registered nurses to have more responsibility and to be promoted faster. Many schools in California offer RN to BSN bridge programs, but only a few have approval from the California Board of Nursing to offer the bridge program online.

California State University

California State University, Dominguez Hills offers an online Bachelor of Science in nursing for registered nurses through the College of Extended & International Education. Delivery of all courses is online, including the clinical role performance courses. Some classes will require an on-campus visit during the course. For admission into the program, you should have 60 or more transfer credits from an accredited college, a current U.S. RN license or interim permit and a minimum college GPA of 2.0. Completion of three units of English composition, three units of critical thinking-logic, three units of oral communications and three units of general education math or quantitative reasoning are also required. The nursing program holds accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
