North Texas Nursing Schools

There are many excellent nursing colleges in northern Texas.


Registered nurses are in high demand in the United States and around the world. In north Texas, as of 2011, a registered nurse can expect to earn up to $60,000 a year. To become a fully accredited nurse you must attend a nursing college for two to four years. In north Texas there are several nursing colleges and universities that hold degree programs for new and practicing nurses.








North Central Texas College


The North Central Texas College offers a two-year associate's degree program, at the end of which the students must complete the National Council License Examination to become a registered nurse. Students are given both theory-based and hands-on training, and are required to do practical work at local hospitals.








Texas Women's University Dallas


Texas Women's University offers undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs. It is the largest nursing program in Texas and it's post-graduate program is the largest in the world. On top of this, it is the fifth-oldest nursing program in the United States. The university has several programs with local hospitals, allowing it's students to blend classroom studies with practical training.


University of Texas Arlington College of Nursing


University of Texas Arlington College of Nursing is ranked in the top 15 largest schools of nursing in the United States. It's graduate students excel in the nursing license exam and 97 percent of students are employed at graduation. The university has a diverse population of ethnic minorities and international students. It is known for it's high focus on practical training.


Midwestern State University Wilson School of Nursing


Midwestern State is a famous university in Wichita Falls which boasts several notable alumni and a student population of close to 7,000. It offers a range of programs from a Bachelor of Science in Nursing to Post Graduate in Psychiatric Nursing. The university also offers online courses, many of which are not offered anywhere else in Texas.
