Choose A Different Language For My Computer

Changing your computer's default language is easy to do.

When you first set up your computer, you have the ability to pick the main language, location and keyboard input method to better suit your needs. If you find yourself needing to change the input language because you made a mistake, want to sell your computer or need to accommodate someone else living in your household, you can easily do so through the Windows Control Panel.

Instructions

1. Click the "Start" button and choose "Control Panel."

2. Click the "Clock, Language, and Region" link.

3. Click "Region and Language > Keyboard and Languages."

4. Click the "Details" or "Change Keyboard" button. Click the "Add" button and select the language you wish to use by selecting the check box next to it. Click "OK" once you have finished. Using the input language drop-down box, select the language you will use most often from the list.

5. Click the "Formats" or "Regional" tab. Using the "Format" drop-down box, select the language you just switched the keyboard input method to. When you have finished, click "Apply" followed by "OK" to save your changes.
