The Best Interior Design Schools In Chicago

Chicago is a city with many opportunities for students looking to earn a degree in interior design. Numerous schools offer programs that teach the basic principals of the field as well as specific aspects that appeal to students. Whether you are interested in residential, commercial, or office design, Chicago has a school that can fit your needs. Most programs offer real world experience alongside classroom experience. This helps to prepare students for the pitfalls they'll face as interior designers.

Harrington College of Design

Located in the area of Chicago known as "the Loop," the Harrington College of Design is a private institution offering degrees in Interior Design. The program focuses on using 2D design and digital photography to enhance a space's form and functionality. The school, formed in 1931 by Francis Harrington when she noticed an interest in Interior Design from area residents, is now nationally accredited by the Council for Independent Colleges. However, it's not regionally accredited, and credits may be difficult to transfer to area schools.
