Online Philosophy Degree Programs

Philosophy explores the meaning of life.

Philosophy deals with the intangible questions of meaning and importance that surround the human experience. The meaning of life distilled into a simple to understand philosophical answer is not an outcome likely to be achieved. However, the use and development of skills such as reflection, logic and critical thinking are utilized to attempt intellectually relevant answers. Philosophy courses explore theories of knowledge and reality, ethics and existentialism.

London University

The London University External System offer two online qualifications in philosophy. The bachelor of arts program consists of ten units while the diploma program can be completed after only four. The diploma course can be used as a stepping stone to the BA program for students who do not meet the BA study requirements. Successful degree holders can expect to follow careers in the fields of public services, teaching, research, journalism, media and business. The flexible nature of the study units allows learners to take between three and eight years to complete the BA course at a cost of approximately $3,870 as of May 2010. The syllabus and prospectus are available to download online.
