Students enrolled in accredited medical transcriptionist training programs are eligible for certification.
When finding an online medical transcriptionist training program, it is advised that students choose a school that is accredited by the Approval Committee for Certificate Programs (ACCP), which is a joint committee established by the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI) and the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Not attending an accredited program will prohibit medical transcription graduates from being able to sit for the Registered Medical Transcriptionist (RMT) and Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) exams.
