The University of Toronto is Canada's leading research and teaching university. It has a remarkable history. On March 15, 1827, King's College, the precursor to U of T, was given its royal charter by King George IV. In the nearly two centuries since, University of Toronto has been home to over 9,000 faculty and staff. More than 60,000 graduate and non-graduate students attend the university.
Instructions
1. Know that prospective students can participate in a St. George Campus Visit on Thursdays and Fridays in October and November. They start at 9:30 a.m. You'll get an extensive tour of the campus, a tour of the residence halls and a meeting with an admissions counselor. All tours are free of charge. If you have less than 10 people going, there's no need to book it in advance. Call (416) 978-5000 to book a group tour of the St. George. There are no group bookings in December.
2. Walk through the St. George campus. Walking tours leave from the Nona Macdonald Visitors Centre Monday through Friday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. or weekends at 11 a.m. That's located at 25 King's College Circle, M5S 1A1.
3. Stroll back in history during a historical tour. Tours are available in June, July and August. The hours are Monday through Friday at 10:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
4. Take a Fall Residence tour. Each college organizes them between October 4th and November 30th. View the residence tour schedule online as a PDF or DOC file.
5. Take a virtual tour (see Resources below) if you can't make it there in person. The Alumni Association created a website that brings you inside the University of Toronto without leaving the comfort of your home. Learn more about the college as you scroll through each page.
