Convert Credits To Semester Hours

The question "How many hours are you taking?" is a common one asked of college and university students. If you want to impress your parents, friends or a potential employer, you should be able to say many hours of classes you're taking each semester. You can easily learn calculate the number of semester hours you're taking based on the number of credits for each class.

Instructions

1. Count the number of classes you're taking during the current semester. If you're a full-time college student, you are probably taking either four or five classes per semester.

2. Determine how many hours of credit you will receive for each class. Most universities that offer classes by semester, instead of by quarter, give students three credit hours per class.

3. Add the total number of hours of credit for all of your classes. For example, if you're taking five classes and each class counts for three hours of credit, you are taking 15 semester hours.
