Let your teen take creative control over his musical-themed bedroom.
Your teenager is at a point in his life where he may start to develop an appreciation for music. Whether your teen plays a musical instrument, sings in a band or just enjoys listening to particular genres, you can support his passion by helping him redecorate his room with a musical edge.
Wall Decor
It is easy to fill up the space on your teen's wall with wall decor. Band posters, old records, CDs, sheet music, framed pictures, framed concert tickets and even your teen's collection of instruments--if he plays any--can make for appropriate and cool wall decor. If you or someone you know has artistic abilities, you can even paint a mural on the wall of your teen's favorite band, or a replica of their album cover. If your teen has musical knick-knacks, such as guitar picks that he wants to save, you can hang a shelf on a section of the wall and dedicate it to random musical paraphernalia.
Furniture
Your teen's bedroom makeover can include new furniture. If your teenager plays an instrument, purchase him a special stool that he can sit on in his room while he plays the guitar or practices the trombone. Set up a mirror behind his bedroom door, or convert his closet doors into mirrors, so he can watch himself perform. Other furniture ideas include purchasing a special closet to keep his instrument(s) and all of its accessories organized, such as straps and picks for guitars. A jukebox could be another furniture option for your teen's cool music room.
Colors
You can integrate color into your teen's room that represents the band or musical artist that she likes. For instance, a teenage girl who listens to Lady Gaga may want a room that is all silver, from silver wallpaper or wall paint to silver linens on her bed. A teenage boy who listens to Gothic music may want a room that is all black. Or, if your teenage daughter loves Taylor Swift, go with a girly color, such as pink.
Electronics
Your teen loves music, so let him have the ultimate music experience by installing surround sound speakers into the wall. You can pair the speakers with a sub-woofer so your teen gets the maximum bass. If built-in speakers are not a feasible option, perhaps purchase a high-end stereo system with detachable speakers that can be placed strategically around his bedroom.
Pop Star Paraphernalia
If your teen can't get enough of a particular pop star, find pop star paraphernalia to decorate with in her room. From comforters with the pop star's face to wall stickers, to pillowcases with guitar pictures on them, you can turn your teen's room into a pop star music mecca.
