Rate Online Universities

Online universities are growing in popularity as technology advances. Just as with any other institution for higher learning, these universities are subject to and reliant upon ratings to attract future students. Whether you would like to rate an online university that you have attended or currently attend, you can easily do so on your personal website or through online rating websites. However, to provide an accurate rating, keep certain essential criteria in mind to help future students gain a clear insight into the online university you have attended.


Instructions


1. List the accreditation of the online university, for in order for a college degree to be useful it must be recognized by the state in which it is acquired. Online extensions of traditional universities should be recognized by the state or region at least, and purely online learning should be accredited by an organization recognized by the U. S. Department of Education. Obviously, if you chose to attend the online university, you determined that it was accredited before attending; be sure to mention its accreditation in your rating to others. If you're unsure of your online university's accreditation, you can easily find this information listed somewhere on the university's admissions or future students' web page.








2. Disclose whether the university truly is 100 percent online. Many people who are interested in attending online universities want the program to be completely online due to their busy work or family schedules. Some online universities actually require a minimum amount of physical campus attendance. Were you required to attend a certain amount of physical classes or take examinations at a physical location rather than online?


3. Rate the flexibility of the online university. Most people who attend online universities are drawn to the idea of planning college schedules around their lifestyles. Some online universities, however, have structured weekly schedules, whereas some require only that all work be completed by the end of the course. Examine how flexible your courses were. Did you have to meet deadlines for weekly assignments, or did all coursework simply have to be completed by the end of the course?


4. Evaluate the credit transfers and financial aid of the online university. Some online universities don't accept as many transfers or offer as much financial aid as other online universities and traditional universities.


5. Consider the cost of tuition for the online university. Determine whether the cost is too expensive or so cheap that it's "too good to be true." Some online universities that are extremely cheap might not offer as high an educational quality as more expensive ones.








6. Evaluate the admissions process. The process at some online universities can be relatively quick and easy, or it can be as lengthy as admissions to traditional universities.


7. Evaluate the quality of the faculty and coursework of the online university. Does the online university offer an online atmosphere that meets your educational needs? Is the faculty helpful, and is the coursework well structured and informative?

Little Miss Muffet Activities For Preschoolers

Spider crafts align with a "Little Miss Muffet" unit.


The nursery rhyme "Little Miss Muffet" by Dr. Thomas Muffet depicts his daughter, Patience, and her fear of spiders. Integrate the nursery rhyme adapted by Mother Goose into your lesson planning during a nursery rhyme theme unit or during a week-long unit on spiders. Devise activities for the students to enrich the "Little Miss Muffet" unit.


Story Reenactment








Punch or cut sixteen 1/4-inch slits approximately 3-inches inside the edge of a 16-inch circle of fabric. Weave yarn in and out of the holes and pull the yarn ends tight to create a bonnet shaped hat. Tie the yarn pieces into a bow around each preschooler's head to create a "Little Miss Muffet" hat. Allow each student a turn to sit on a footstool, or tuffet, and retell the story with the preschooler as the main character. Alternatively, students can use photocopied "Little Miss Muffet" images glued to the end of wooden craft sticks to recreate the story.


Edible Crafts


Recreate the "Little Miss Muffet" nursery rhyme with edible items for snack time. The Library Support website states that a tuffet is the term used to describe a grassy lump in the ground as well as a footstool. Lay a piece of clean lettuce in a paper bowl to represent a grassy tuffet and spoon a dollop of cottage cheese, resembling curds and whey, over it. Top the cottage cheese with a large raisin, which resembles a spider's dark-colored body. Another edible nursery rhyme idea from Craft Bits suggests that the students press strands of black licorice into the white filling of a chocolate sandwich cookie to create "Little Miss Muffet" spiders.


Whole Class Projects








Seat the preschool students in a circle and instruct one student to hold the end of a ball of yarn while tossing it to another student across the circle. The second student keeps hold of the yarn and tosses it to a different child. The process repeats until the center of the circle appears like a spider web. A second whole class activity involves decorating one corner of your classroom as a spider web by taping white yarn back and forth between the connecting walls. Students paint a foam ball with black paint, allow it to dry and press eight pipe cleaners, four on each side, into the ball. The foam ball becomes a spider when wiggly eyes are adhered with glue and the pipe cleaner legs are slightly bent in the center. Hang the spiders from the classroom spider web.


Paper Projects


Instruct each child to draw a spider web on the corner of a piece of paper by drawing diagonal lines and connecting those lines with smaller line segments. Press the child's thumb into a nontoxic and washable black ink pad and push the inked thumb onto the spider web to create a thumb print spider. Students can also cut one concave section from an empty paper egg carton and paint it black to create their own spider. Add eight pipe cleaner legs and wiggly eyes with glue. Thread a piece of string through the top and tie the opposite end of the string to a sturdy drinking straw to create a bouncing spider toy.

Specify your case clearly so the college can consider your appeal with clarity.


Most colleges offer some financial aid to students they select to gain admission to their courses. Although this offer is based on the general institutional policy, colleges are often open to making exceptions for candidates who show they deserve more help. When you write a letter asking for financial assistance, it is important to state the specifics of your case with supporting evidence. Along with a firm yet polite tone of address, this will improve your chances of receiving an amount greater than the initial offer from the college.








Instructions








1. Speak to the college administrative office and find out the name of the person heading the financial aid appeal committee. Address your letter to this person by name to draw attention to your case.


2. Use relevant information to present your case. If the college has made you an offer of financial assistance, first thank the authorities for the offer. State in specific numbers the fees you have to pay, the amount the college is offering and the difference. Provide the reference number of the letter you received from the college indicating your admittance. This is important because having all the information together will help the appeal committee make a quick decision. Appeal committees receive letters from many students and you cannot expect them to hunt for information on your case ahead of others.


3. Explain your present financial condition and show how the amount they are offering will not suffice to help you. Don't vaguely state the general poor condition of the economy as the reason for wanting financial aid. Base your statements on the realities of your particular case and make sure you have supporting evidence to substantiate your claims. For example, if you are asking for financial aid because your parents have been laid off from work, you should have an employment status document or a bank statement to prove the lack of income.


4. State firmly your need for greater financial aid than what the college is presently offering. Give exact figures of the amount that you are expecting. Express your inability to take up the course unless the award is higher. However, avoid making false references to better offers from other colleges. At a time when many students are requesting greater financial aid, the appeal committee may reject your application.


5. Read the draft of your letter to ensure you sound humble and polite but clear about the financial realities of your situation. Ensure the letter is less than one page long and check for grammar and spelling mistakes.

Medical Insurance Billing Schools

The number of jobs for medical insurance billings will grow over the next decade.

Study For A Leadership Exam







Leadership qualities are characteristics that one is born with. If you have the ability to lead, it's an important responsibility. Some employers use a leadership exam to determine who has the potential to stand out in their organization. You might not be able to control whether or not you're a leader, but you can control how successful you are on a leadership test.


Instructions


1. Find a practice test. There are several websites where you can find free downloads of leadership exams. On most of these sites, the leadership exam is available for free.


2. Take the practice test. These exams offer on-screen directions that are easy to follow. Some tests are taken by selecting a multiple choice option online; then your score will appear at the end. Other tests are designed to be printed out and taken that way.


3. Consider your personality. There are 15 different categories of leadership, from diligence and persistence to ambition and versatility. More than likely, you are a combination of several different leadership categories.


4. Determine the kind of leader you are, and think carefully about your good and bad qualities. That will help you determine the kind of leader you want to be.


5. Practice your answers. Employers look for confidence when they ask questions. You'll have more confidence if you already have an idea of what you'll say.


6. Devise a mock test. Take the practice tests you found online, and have a friend compile a list of questions. That helps you come up with the answers on the spot.

Use Quotation Marks

Grammar can be tough to tackle, but don't let quotation marks scare you. Like most elements of grammar, quotation marks can be mastered with a little bit of practice and a clear understanding of the rules. Get on your way to being a quotation mark guru with these simple solutions.


Instructions








1. Put periods and commas inside the quotation mark. This is the most common mistake writers make. The exception to this is the Modern Language Association (MLA) format, which calls for the period to be outside the quotation.


2. Place semicolons and colons outside of the quotation mark. Unlike periods and commas, semicolons and colons need to be excluded from the quote.








3. Include exclamation points and question marks inside the quotation mark if they are part of the text you are quoting. For example, read this sentence: Sally picked up the phone and asked, "What are you doing today?" The question mark goes inside the quotation because Sally is being quoted as asking the question. Now, read this sentence: Have you heard the saying, "Don't cry over spilt milk"? In this example, the question mark goes outside the quote because the quote is not a question.


4. Include quotation marks if you are writing exactly what someone said. A direct quote always has quotations. For example, if you are writing that Billy said Texas is large, you would write: "Texas is large," Billy said. Or, Billy said, "Texas is large." Regardless of how you quote Billy, the period is always inside the quotation mark.


5. Utilize single quotation marks when you write a quotation inside another quotation. Here is an example sentence: "I always ask Rebecca, 'What are you having for lunch today?' and she lists the foods," said Anne. In this example, double quotation marks are being used for the entire quote, while single marks are used for the inside quotation.


6. Use quotation marks with short published works, such as poems, songs and short stories and parts of larger published works, such as newspaper articles, magazine excerpts, book chapters or specific episodes from TV and radio.

Organizational Skills For Open Book Tests

Conquer your open book test with the right preparation


Taking any exam can be nerve-wracking, so when your teacher or professor tells you a test will be open book, it can seem like a huge relief. However, these tests bring their own set of struggles because they often require a broad understanding of the subject matter. With the adequate preparation, though, you will have the knowledge and skills needed to tackle your open book exam.


Find out what "open book" means


Ask your teacher or professor what is meant by "open book" exam. Are any and all resources allowed? Just class notes? Is there a limit to how many pages of notes you bring? Answering these questions will allow you to prepare efficiently and effectively.


Focus on understanding, not memorization








A traditional test requires memorization: What is the student able to take away from the class lectures and study preparation before the exam? However, an open book test is more expansive: How is the student able to take what she has learned and apply it in context? For example, if the test is on psychology, rather than simply defining mental disorders, you may have to identify a disorder based on a case study of a real person.








Organize the basics


Because the exam focuses on broad concepts and applying that knowledge, it's best to have your basics covered. Make lists of common terms or dates so that you have them on hand and they are easy to access during the test. Organize your class notes according to topic.


Prepare information from books


In addition to preparing your class notes, also write down relevant quotes from books or other sources that your teacher will allow. You can use these in exam essays. But be careful to not over-quote; you also need to display your own knowledge of the concepts you've learned. According to Study Guides and Strategies, short quotes can be quite effective, and you should only use a quote if you can't "say it better."

The scrub nurse has an important role during surgery. As a part of a team of trained professionals, a scrub nurse will be sure that sterile techniques are used throughout the surgery and advocate patient safety. They may be a surgical technologist or registered nurse and are trained to assist the surgeon and help provide an optimal outcome to the procedure.


Preparation and Organization


Organization is important to all things in medicine and the operating room is not any different. The scrub nurse goes into the operating room to set the room up and set up the sterile field before the procedure begins. The room is set up differently according to the specific surgery. Correct instruments and materials are placed in the room by the scrub nurse so that leaving the operating room during the procedure and potentially breaking the sterile field is avoided. They also check that needed equipment is in good working condition for a smooth process.


Scrubbing








The scrub nurse must actually be scrubbed in to assist with the surgery. This includes a thorough surgical hand-to-elbow scrub with a dedicated soap and the donning of the surgical attire. Attire includes sterile gloves, gown, head covering and protective eyewear. Once the surgeon and surgeon's assistant arrive in the operating room, the scrub nurse will assist them in putting on their sterile gowns and gloves. To decrease risk of infection for the patient, the scrub nurse focuses on maintaining sterile technique throughout the procedure.


Count


A very important step in a surgery is the counting of instruments and materials such as sponges and needles to be used. The count must be done before the first incision is made. The scrub nurse and circulating nurse do the count together and both sign to verify the number.








Assisting Surgeon


A good scrub nurse is able to anticipate the needs of the surgeon. The scrub nurse must know the correct use of all instruments and pass the instruments to the surgeon in a specific way. They are allowed to use the suction equipment to clear the surgery site as needed. If a specimen is wanted, the surgeon will give it to the scrub nurse to handle and label correctly.


Post Procedure


The count of sponges, needles, and instruments is done again with the circulating nurse and the surgeon is notified of the count. This count must be correct. It is vital to ensure that no foreign objects are left inside of the patient. The scrub nurse may help the circulating nurse with transporting the patient into a recovery area.

Teach Medical Math To High School Students

Teaching medical math to high school students is easy, if you relate it to the everyday life of a teenager.


Instructions


1. Determine why the high school students are learning medical math. This will help you figure out what they want to get out of the class.








2. Relate medical math to everyday objects and happenings in a teenager's life. For example, most teens have seen a bottle of pain reliever and a gallon of milk, have received a vaccination, and so on.


3. Make sure the high school students know that medical math is easy if you consider two things: the amount of medicine, and amount of stuff the medicine is in.


4. Show them two identical glasses of water. In one glass, put an antacid. In the other glass, put seven antacids. This will help explain to them that two identical medicine bottles, vials, or syringes, can have vastly different amounts of medicine in them.








5. Teach them that most medication is measured in cc's or milliliters (ml), and that both mean the same thing. To give them an idea of what a cc or ml is equal to, tell them five cc's or five ml's is the same as a teaspoon of liquid.


6. Have them do simple calculations first, such as "if I have to give someone 1 milligram of medicine, and I'm given a 5-cc vial that is labeled '5 milligrams per 5 cc's', how many cc's do I have to give them?" The answer is 1 cc.


7. Once they understand the relationship between amount of fluid and the concentration of medication, give them questions that require more difficult mathematical calculations.

Prepare for your exam by incorporating a variety of study techniques into your daily schedule.


Created by the American College Testing, or ACT®, the COMPASS® exam is a computerized college-placement test that evaluates a student's math, reading and writing skills, as well as language skills for those who are taking the English as a Second Language, ESL, exam. The English placement portion of the exam is comprised of two sections: reading and writing. Though the exam is comprised mostly of multiple choice questions, students are also required to write an essay. Based on the test results, students are placed in appropriate courses.








Instructions


1. Review the expectations and exam formats for the reading and writing placement portions of the English test. The majority of the exam is comprised of multiple choice questions that assess your knowledge of grammar, sentence structure and punctuation, as well as your reading comprehension skills.


2. Take ACT's sample Reading Placement Test online. Read each passage carefully, and then examine the sample questions at the bottom of the page. Write your answers on a sheet of paper, and then compare your answers with ACT's answer sheet.


3. Take ACT's sample Writing Skills Placement Test online. Read the sample passage carefully, and answer the sample questions. Similar to Step 2, you can write your answers on a sheet of paper. After answering each question, compare your results with ACT's answers.








4. Write a sample essay to prepare for the writing portion of the exam. ACT has an example writing task on its website. Your essay should be cogent, focused on a specific audience, include a position and solution to your argument and appropriate usage in grammar, sentence structure and punctuation.


5. Practice reading for at least 30 minutes to an hour each day until the day you take the exam. Whether you choose to read newspapers, magazines or books, reading each day can improve your comprehension and vocabulary skills. After reading a passage or short story, recall and summarize the information you read. If you come across a word that is unfamiliar, be sure to look it up.


6. Get plenty of rest on the eve of your exam. You should also make sure that you eat properly before taking your exam. Eating and sleeping properly will aid in keeping you focused while you take the exam.

Transfer To Scad

The Savannah College of Art and Design was founded in 1978 and is headquartered in Savannah, Georgia. The college offers a number of degree and certificate programs in the arts, including graphic design, film production, animation and architecture. Transferring to SCAD is a straightforward process, and can be done at any point throughout the year.


Instructions


1. Apply for admission as soon as you make your decision to transfer to SCAD. Applications are accepted year round, but in order to be considered for a scholarship your materials need to be submitted early. March 15 is the deadline for fall admission scholarship consideration and December 1 is the deadline for the winter.








2. Go to the Savannah College of Art and Design website, scad.edu, and click "Apply" on the main screen.


3. Click the blue "Apply Now" link under the heading "Transfer Student."








4. Fill out the application form. It is displayed in a pop-up window, so you may need to set your computer to temporarily allow pop-ups. The form consists of six pages of questions about your personal details, educational background and preferred course of study.


5. Enter your credit card information to pay the $35 non-refundable fee and submit your application online. For a processing fee of $70, you may print out the application and send it by mail.


6. Request an official transcript from each of the colleges or universities you attended. Some institutions charge for this service. Have each college mail your transcript directly to the SCAD Admission Department at P.O. Box 77300, Atlanta, GA 30357.


7. Demonstrate proficiency in English if you are not a native English speaker. This can be done by mailing the admissions department an official test score from one of the following exams: Test of English as a Foreign Language, Scholastic Aptitude Test, International English Language Test or the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages Exam.


8. Submit an official certification of your personal funds and sources of income if you are an international student. This document is necessary to secure a visa.


9. Mail supplementary materials to the admissions department if you would like to be considered for a scholarship. No other materials are required to apply to SCAD, but supplementary evidence of your skills and performance may enhance your application and increase your chances of obtaining a scholarship. Supporting materials like your portfolio, recommendations, statement of purpose and resume should be mailed to the admissions department soon after you submit your application.


10. Advise your current university that you will be leaving at the end of the semester. If necessary, apply for financial aid for SCAD and secure housing for the coming semester.

Students attempt to answer the question posed by their teacher in the topic sentence.


Writing a good essay often depends upon the ability to write a good topic sentence. Teachers and professors will ask students to write a topic sentence essay, or an essay in which a question is asked and the topic sentence is already implied in the question. This main topic sentence is the thesis statement and each paragraph thereafter begins with its own topic sentence. Knowing make these statements cohere is key to writing an effective essay.








Instructions


1. Restate the question as an affirmative statement or a negation of the question being asked. The essay should be an attempt to either answer "yes" or "no" to the question posed by the teacher, but with a significant explanation to accompany it.


2. Brainstorm your topic further to create additional topic sentences for subsequent paragraphs. You can write your thesis statement without knowing how you will construct the essay, but once you've done that you will need to start providing reasons for your assertion.








3. Conduct additional research to validate your thesis. You may find, after a little research, that your thesis statement needs to be reversed. Once you know which direction you are going with the paper, you can fully develop the rest of your remaining topic sentences.


4. Select three to five pieces of evidence to support your main thesis. Each piece of evidence should be the main topic of a paragraph and should the focus of the topic sentence of each essay. Ensure that each topic sentence points back to the original thesis in some way so that the entire essay is coherent.


5. Conclude your paper with a reaffirmation of your thesis and the rest of the evidence you provide in your paper. Summarize your argument without obviously restating it.

Rn Associate'S Vs Rn Bachelor'S

An RN can earn an associate's or bachelor's degree.


To become a registered nurse (RN), an individual must first earn a college degree. RNs generally choose to earn either an associate's degree in nursing (ADN) or a bachelor's degree of science in nursing (BSN). After earning a degree, both ADN and BSN graduates must pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). Nursing school candidates should determine which degree is the most suitable choice for them.








Completion Time


An associate's degree in nursing takes a shorter amount of time to complete than a bachelor's degree in nursing. Most nursing students take about two and a half to three years to complete an associate's degree program; it generally takes about four years to complete a bachelor's degree program. The number of courses that a student takes each semester generally determines how long it takes to complete a nursing degree, but some schools require nursing students to attend full-time to remain in the program.


Coursework


A BSN requires students to complete two years of general education courses, while ADN students may need to take just a few general-education courses, such as English and speech communications. Both bachelor's degree and associate's degree students will usually need to take anatomy and physiology, biology and chemistry, in addition to nursing courses. Employability


The job outlook for all registered nurses is expected to be excellent. RNs who have a bachelor's degree will find the best job prospects, however, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). A bachelor's degree in nursing can increase a registered nurse's chances of becoming employed in areas where job opportunities are competitive. Some employers may prefer to hire BSN graduates because they are thought to have more experience, as their education generally consists of more nursing courses.


Cost


An associate's degree in nursing is generally more affordable because it's usually earned at a two-year community college in less time than a bachelor's degree. A List Of The Basic Skills That Are Tested In The Act English Test

Excelling on the ACT can help students gain entry to top universities.


High school students typically take the ACT college admission test in eleventh grade. It consists of four parts: reading, math, English and science. The English section has 75 multiple choice questions, and students are given 45 minutes to complete the section. Within the 75 questions are five nonfiction passages with fifteen questions each, and the degree of difficulty is random. The questions use a multiple choice format with four answer choices for each question.


Mechanics: Grammar and Punctuation








Slightly over half of the English section tests mechanics, and half of the mechanics portion consists of grammar and punctuation. The focus of the grammar section includes the following areas: subject-verb agreement (the requirement that the sentence subject agree in number with its verb), plural nouns (plural indefinite pronouns and collective nouns), verb tense agreement (consistency in verb tense throughout a passage) and pronoun usage (requirement of pronoun and antecedent agreeing in number and gender). The target of the punctuation section includes the following areas: comma usage (with introductory phrases, nonessential words, independent clauses and lists), semicolon usage (with independent clauses and special conjunctions), colon usage (with lists and explanations) and apostrophe usage (with contractions and possession).


Mechanics: Usage and Sentence Structure


The other half of the mechanics portion of the test consists of usage and sentence structure. The focus of the usage part includes the following areas: word choice (comparatives versus superlatives, adjectives versus adverbs and commonly misused words), relative pronoun usage, conjunction usage, preposition usage and formal language versus informal language/slang. The ACT writers follow formal language rules and not those that have become accepted in conversation or business. The target of the sentence structure section includes the following areas: misplaced modifiers, parallelism and complete sentences versus fragments and run-ons.


Writing: Organization, Style/Strategy


Slightly less than half of the English section tests writing, and the writing portion consists of organization and style/strategy. These questions are generally longer questions that require more careful reading. The focus of the organization section includes the following areas: main idea/topic sentence, sentence order, transition usage and relevance (whether a sentence is necessary or can be omitted). The target of the style/strategy part includes the following areas: clarity/precision, redundancy and the relationship or connection of ideas and tone. Many of these questions ask the student to consider the "best" way to write something.








Not Included


The ACT English section does not test spelling or vocabulary. The student will not be asked to spell or define a word, but will be asked to replace misused words with more acceptable or precise ones. The test does use passages that students would see in college, so a strong vocabulary will assist with comprehension. There may be instances when not knowing a word may hinder choosing the correct answer. For the most part, the English section tests a student's knowledge of standard formal written English.

Get Into An Ivy League University

College is more competitive than ever, and the Ivy League only takes the cream of the crop. I know a few tricks on how even someone who didnt put out much effort in high school can get in.

1. Get a 1500-1600 on the Sat' s, this is key to this system working. I got a 1400 without studying, and the courses that prepare you for SAT's typically boost your score by 100 points. So a 1500 is not impossible.


2. If you were a C student in High School don't fret. Your dreams can come true, there is a secret. Go to a community college in the same state as the Ivy league school you want to get in to (i.e. Boston Community College would be a good example for those that want to go to Harvard).


3. Get straight A's for the 2 years that you are in the community college.


4. Excell in sports such as Crew, Fencing and Chess. They are appreciated by these schools. This is key for scholorships, but don't count on that; with your grades your lucky to get in.

The coach in charge of scholarship distribution decides on a case by case basis whether the golfer will receive a full scholarship, partial scholarship or nothing. For Division I athletics, eligibility is based on a sliding scale of relative GPAs with a corresponding minimum SAT score. For a 2.0 GPA, a minimum SAT math/verbal combined score of 1010 is required, for 3.0 a minimum of 620 combined score is required. For Division II athletics, a GPA minimum of 2.0 and SAT two-part total of 820 is required.


If you are interested in an NCAA scholarship, contact the coach at schools that interest you. Do not contact the NCAA directly because it does not choose the recipients, the schools do. There is no specific award amount because each award is distributed to each individual at the coach's discretion.


Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship








The Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship is available to students who work as caddies in a Western Golf Association (WGA) club. You can't apply for the scholarship directly; your WGA club needs to nominate you. The Evans scholarship is based on four factors: a strong caddie record, the demonstration of financial need, an excellent academic record and outstanding character. To apply, you need to have a track record of two years or more as a caddie with plans to work at the club during the summer preceding your first year of college. LPGA Scholarships


For female golfers, the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) has your back. It offers The Dinah Shore Scholarship for high school seniors playing golf who don't plan on continuing at the collegiate level. One student can get this $5,000 scholarship every year. For high school girls planning on playing golf at the collegiate level, the LPGA also offers the Marilynn Smith Scholarship to five winners every year. Furthermore, the LPGA also provides one need-based award to women of recognized minority groups who demonstrate financial need and also plan on continuing golf at the collegiate level.


NAIA


The NAIA is the second-largest national-level association of colleges (after the NCAA) that organizes college-level athletic programs. The schools that participate at NAIA-level conferences tend to be smaller institutions and because of this the competition is not as fierce.


To be eligible for an NAIA scholarship, you must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0, have a minimum ACT score of 18 or SAT score (two-part composite) of 860, and you must rank in the top half of your class. For more details and a list of schools in the NAIA, visit naia.cstv.com.

Get Accepted Into An Occupational Therapist School







Occupational therapists work with patients suffering from injuries and disabilities that prevent them from performing daily living and personal care tasks. To get into this career field, a person must have a master's or doctorate degree in occupational therapy from a college or university. The first step in earning their degree is to get accepted into occupational therapist school.


Instructions


1. Learn the admission requirements. Each school has their own requirements for getting accepted into occupational therapist school, so it's important to learn what these requirements are. Meet with a faculty member or academic advisor for the program to learn about the admission process.








2. Take prerequisite courses. Before starting occupational therapy school, a student needs a background in basic human functioning. This is why many schools have prerequisite courses that must be completed with a grade of C or better. Common prerequisites include human anatomy and physiology, developmental psychology and statistics.


3. Earn a bachelor's degree. Along with specific prerequisites, students also need to have a bachelor's degree. This generally takes four years, but students may take longer if they take fewer classes to earn a higher grade point average. Many occupational therapist schools have a specific GPA requirement, so it could be beneficial for a student to spread out their classes over more semesters and take additional time obtaining their undergraduate degree.


4. Find good character references. When submitting an application for admission to an occupational therapy program, students must provide recommendation letters from academic and work references. These letters attest to the student's character and their ability to do well as a student in occupational therapist school.


5. Perform observation hours. Washington University is one of the occupational therapist schools that require students to observe an occupational therapist on the job before they can be accepted. Thirty hours is the requirement for students at Washington University, and these hours must be documented.


6. Take the GRE. The graduate record exam (GRE) is available to any graduate student regardless of the degree or program of study they choose. This exam measures reading and comprehension skills, math aptitudes and reasoning abilities. It's computer-based and can be taken at a variety of testing centers across the U.S., with a student's score forwarded to the schools where they are applying for admission. Not all occupational therapist schools require GRE scores, which is why it's important to find out the admission requirements in advance. For those required to take it, there are a number of study guides available to help you improve your GRE score. Doing well on the exam can increase the chance of being accepted as a student in an occupational therapy school.


7. Write a personal statement or essay. Along with the application for admission, submit a personal statement or essay following the guidelines of the school. These often request students to explain their desire for a career in the occupational therapy field as well as what they are able to contribute to the profession with their knowledge and personal characteristics.


8. Apply for admission. Once you have written and gathered all the materials needed to get accepted to occupational therapist school, you can apply for admission. Each school has a deadline for applying for admission, which you must meet. For example, New York University requires students applying to the occupational therapy program to have their application and supporting documents submitted by February 1 for students who want to start school in the fall.

In order to receive student loans, you must prove you are attending a school of higher education. This often requires the loan to go directly through the school's financial aid department. 1. Receive your student loan check either from the school itself or from the loan company. Depending on the loan you signed up for, it either goes directly to the school and you receive the remaining funds, or the student loan facility sends you the check and it is up to you to pay the funds to the school.


2. Deposit the check into your banking account. These checks tend to clear rather quickly as the banks are extremely familiar with the financial lenders.


3. Write out a check from your checking account for your monthly rent. Once the funds are deposited into your account, it is just as if you received a large check from a family member.

Get Into Harvard Medical

Harvard Medical School is hard to get into but well worth the try.


Harvard Medical School is considered by many people to be one of the top medical schools in the country. Admission is competitive, and you need to have excellent grades and test scores to even consider applying. If you meet Harvard's qualifications, then applying is simply a matter of following a series of commonsense steps.


Instructions


1. Take the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) and find out your score. Your score tells you where you rank compared to your peers. This test is one of the main determining factors that the admissions committee considers when looking at applicants. The closer you score to the average scores of admitted students, the better your chance will be for acceptance. The average of the admitted class of 2009 was Verbal: 11.01; Physical Science: 12.09; and Biological Science: 12.03.


2. Check to see if your grades fall into the average of accepted students and that you have completed all the prerequisite courses. Although there is no minimum GPA or test score requirements, it is important to have excellent grades. The average GPA for the admitted class of 2009 was 3.8. Prerequisite courses are one year each of biology, physics, calculus, and expository writing, and two years of chemistry.


3. Ask people who know you well to write letters of recommendation for you. Ask a professor, mentor, boss, or someone else who knows you in an educational or professional setting. Ideally, you want people to write about why you would make a good medical student. Be sure to ask for these letters early in the application process. Not everyone you ask may be able to write a letter, and you may need to find a replacement.








4. Put substantial time and effort into your personal statement. Explain why you think you would make a good doctor. Make sure that your essay is unique and shows a side of you that is not revealed through your test scores and grades. Remember to proofread it at least three times yourself, and then ask someone else to read it over as well.
